Joreg and Jens. Good buddies and Joreg hosted me for a few nights . My car was happy and Joreg has a 66 slightly modified, and a 2003 for family drives.
He introduced me to a friend of his , Jens. Jens said he had a few cars and if I wanted , I could look at them. He drives most of them when he can. Keeps them all in a garage so he can just jump in the car of the day.
Lots of American Muscle Cars in Europe !

No niin. Homma elää tehokkaasti, mutta olettaen vierailuaika on luokkaa to-ma.
Yksi vaihtoehto olisi to-pe Helsingin seudulla ja perjantaina isomman porukan illanviettoa. Lauantaina Tampereen kautta Keski-Suomeen ja voisi jopa selvittää Oulu-Vaasa-Uumaja vaihtoehtoa kuten Jack alunperin suunnitteli.
Mitä porukka on on mieltä? Saataisiinko tähän Porvoo-sektori, tallikäytejä koko matkan varalla, mukavaa yhdessäoloa...
Tai sitten torstai Helsingissä opastettuna, perjantai Tampere-Jämsä. Lauantaina takaisin pääkaupunkiseudulle ja sunnuntaina porvoo yms. ja maanantaina vielä Etelä-Suomen nähtävyyksiä ja Turun tai jopa naantalin laivalla kohti Ruotsia ja Osloon.
Nyt ei kannata pitää hyviä ehdotuksia omana tietonaan vaan rohkeasti esiin niin tyrmätään ne porukalla :)

Joskus kun on itsellä ollut vieraita jenkkilästä, ovat tuota itänaapuria pitäneet aika eksoottisena nähtävyytenä. Jos ei olla ehditty edes Viipuriin niin jo rajan näkeminenkin on aiheuttanut "väristyksiä". Tietysti riippuu henkilöstä ja siitä, kuinka on elänyt ajan hermoilla kylmän sodan aikana.
Olisipa edes 15 km rekkajonoa, siinäkin jotakin nähtävää... Liekö täällä idässä muuta kiinnostavaa.
Tämä vaan heittona muiden joukkoon. Valitettavasti itse en juurikaan pystyisi täällä päässä jeesaamaan.

Heh heh, johan sitä alkoi selviämään miksi tämäkin herätti suuria tunteita.. Jos sitä on joku painanut kuukausi tolkulla ohjelmaa yyvee tasolla niin eihän siitä voi muu porukka tietää millään. Eiköhän se nyt ole jaskalle kivointa että saa nähdä mahdollisimman paljon kivoja mestoja lyhyellä visiitillään täällä. Pidä Kurkis tiedotusta päällä ja mieluusti toisella kotimaisella että jaskakin pysyy kartalla. Nythän oiva sauma CcoFn käyttää sitä megalomaanista tiliään pieneen edustukseen ja pitää Jaska ravittuna ja majoitettuna.

Ykskaks näytti ett mettämökin kautta jaakko kuskataa privapippaloihi pöllönummelle, ja tähän puuttumiseni ilmeisesti sotki eräitten pasmat.
Kierrättäkää ja touhutkaa mitä lystäätte, mulla ei oo mitää sen kummempia tarpeit sotkeutua tähän, pitäkää llippu korkeella, mä lähen viikoks fiskaan.

Mitään privailuja ei ole ollut suunnitelmissä kun kaikki on tässä ketjussa kailotettu kuten asiaan kuuluu. Mun silmillä näkyvien tekstien perusteella alkoi jo näyttää siltä ettei ketään tai kukaan ollut järkkäämässä mitään.

Kaikki ok täällä pohjoisessa. Jos Jack haluaa/ehtii/uskaltaa kiepauttaa Ouluun asti, niin sufeeta/safkaa/yösijaa/seuraa on tarjolla kuten heti alkuunsa on luvattu. Ohessa samma på engelska sisältäen Kurkiksen heittämän lautta-ajatuksen aikataulun.
Roger that, if Jack want/dare/make drive to Oulu then we have coffee/food/place to sleep/company as I mentioned at start. We do have had some cold nights here, but nothing serious yet. Ferry from Vaasa to Umeå will leave daily 20.00 and it will take 4h30min.

Ja jos Kurkis täällä seudulla jotain museokruisingeja ja tallimööttejä järkkäilee, niin meikäläisenkin luona sopii tässä naapurissa tulla käymään ihan millä poppoolla vain (ja myös majoituksia järjestän, jos on pidemmältä kruisailijoita), mutta täältä kyllä löytyy talleja, joissa on oikeasti jotain näkemistäkin :cool:

Oletan että tässä minua tarkoitat.
En ole ainakaan itse yrittänyt omia tapahtumaa ja Jackin vierailua.
Lähinnä tässä on yritetty jotain ohjelmaa järjestää, kun viikonloppu on hyvin lähellä aikataulullisesti, eikä mitään yleisessä tiedossa ollut.
En sitäkään halua että kun Jack tulee Suomeen, ketään ei ole vastassa, eikä mitään tapahtumaa ole tiedossa.
Tottakai voit ossi järjestää tapahtumat siellä kaukana etelässä, täältä kun ei ole niin pitkä matka etelään, kun etelästä pohjoiseen ;)
Niin päästään ns. valmiiseen pöytään.
Mutta corvette harrastajia asuu muuallakin kun ruuhkasuomessa, älä unohda heitä.
Sillä Keski-Suomi oli ohjelmassa ja tiedossa muutakin kun savusaunomista (joka sinänsä on hyvin Suomalaista toimintaa)
Voidaan unohtaa keski-suomi, kun niin montaa tuntuu se reitillä haittaavaan.
Toivotaan että saadaan Jackille muistorikas Suomen vierailu ja taoaa monia harrastajia matkallaan!
Oletan että tässä minua tarkoitat.
Minusta tuntuu, ettei sormi sinne osoittanut.
Sitten on hyvä muistaa yksi pikkujuttu: Kuu-ukkeli translaattorilla saa nämä keskinäiset suomeksi rustatut kihinät ja kähinät käännettyä aikalailla sävyltään oikeahenkisiksi väännöksiksi kielelle kuin kielelle. Siis vierailija ja muiden maiden harrastajat pääsevät hyvin jyvälle miten Corvette community futaa yhteen pohjanperukoilla.
Jos nyt saisi vaikka sen reitin/aikataulun suurinpiirtein kuosiin, niin voisi ehkä jotain miettiä järjestävänsä. Nyt on vaan aikataulu elänyt lyhyen ajan sisällä paljon, joten kannattaisi ehkä ottaa pieni tuumaustauko ennen kommentointia. Muutamat puuhamiehet ovat suunnitelleet ohjelmaa, joten ehkä siltä pohjalta kannattaa lähteä miettimään toteutusta uudelleen.
Toiveenahan on ollut tavata mahdollisimman paljon Corvette-harrastajia, joita löytyy kyllä sen Kehä III:n ulkopuoleltakin. Jyväskylä-Tampere -akselilla Keski-Suomessa on varsin aktiivista jäsenistöä ja täällä pystytään ajamaan vähän siirtymiäkin, jos tarvis vaatii.
Täytyy muistaa, että ihan päivän-kahden varoitusajalla voi olla hankalaa järjestää mitään isompaa, mutta tarvitseeko siitä mitään isoa spektaakkelia tehdä? Jengi kasaan, jonoköröttelyä mutkateitä pitkin ja illanviettoa. Kaikessa rauhassa ilman minuuttiaikataulua.
No, katsotaan miten tilanne elää. Tänne Keski-Suomeen Corvetteharrastajat ovat aina tervetulleita käymään ja yösijakin järjestetään tarvittaessa. Juomaa ja sipulivapaata ruokaa tarjotaan. ;)

Kunhan saadaan avoimet kohdat selville niin laitetaan sama lontooksi ja koitetaan saada mahdollisimman paljon aikataulua julki niin kaikki halukkaat pääsevät paikalle ainakin jossain vaiheessa retkeä.

I am on the MS Silja Symphony. 9.55 am
I will be driving a Ford F 350. Better in the snow. It's modified to look like a 66 Corvette
I can stay till the 23 or 24 th October as my car is going on the Ro Ro on the 1st Nov. Plane home on 28 oct
I will go as far north as safe to drive. I must also get my wife a present of boots while here.

Now we are at Suomenlinna. It's raining, but we just had warm soup so so far ok.
Plan to see few garages today. Hara and Corvette63 have been kind to offer to open some doors.
We'll be back at Kauppatori at about 15.00.
Jack shall stay over night in Central Helsinki likely for two night at Drumbrakes place.
Tomorrow cruising with groovy and anyone interested. Evening likely in Porvoo, but GJ shall tell more about that.
Saturday mornign local garages and then north to Tampere and Kangasala. And offer for sauna still open for everyone, just let me know.
Sunday rally hall of fame...more to come, but plan to go to at least Oulu.

What kind of schedule on Saturday at Tampere region? I have to be in Savonlinna all day on Saturday and I'll be back sometime in the evening. Interested in sauna, but I can't say anything sure before the funeral ceremony is over and all the relatives have left.

Good to hear Jack made it here safe and sound. Unfortunately many of us had to stay at work when the man of the hour arrived today, but we will try to make up for it tomorrow. We have planned an early dinner for everyone interested (Jack this includes you :D ) at Haikkoo and after that a little cruise to take a small walking tour around old part of Porvoo and maybe quick drinks with the living legend in the Vanha Paahtimo, also in Porvoo. After that we are invited to tuplakoo's residence in Loviisa for some good old offtopic chit chat and finnish pancakes.
We are hoping that all 2000 Finnish Corvette owners to join us tomorrow! I know many of the guys have their cars tucked away for the winter already, but bring your daily drivers and join the fun. Jacktion Day 2 tomorrow!!!! :rock:

Jack should be in Tampere/Kangasala on Saturday hopefully around 17.00. Saturday morning shall be filled with garages around Helsinki area. Grill and sauna shall be heated so feel welcome to join. Address on private message if needed.
Sunday at 10.00 at Rally Hall of Fame and then garages at Pirkkala if possible. Please let me know if you are joining as I try to reserve a guided tour. Then towards Central Finland and evening in Jämsä. And Monday up to Oulu.
I'll join the convoy on Sunday in case the sky isn't filled with cats & dogs...

I am in Helsinki this morning. Many members of the FinnShark forum have set out a great welcome mat. Stories later. I also have a few more private car collections to share with you.
I have been fortunate to have met some very interesting corvette owners in my European travels. Not only do they love corvettes, they also have other interests that I found fascinating. The partners of these owners also had careers or hobbies that I would like to share with you.
Mark and Garbriela and dog Felix, are one such couple. He owns a nice 66 coupe and a few other European cars. He in involved in the advertising business and art photography , he has published two books on European Car rallys with photographs of the event.
His wife Garbriela is a student and teacher of Yoga. She works with sound vibrations using gongs and bells as a yoga method of relaxation.

Silke Knaap of Klein -Moor area of Hamburg, Germany. Silke has one of world's the most extensive collections of Lili - Barbi dolls from the 50's to present.
She has written books on the subject and attends and lectures at seminars all over the world. Her husband Joeg was my host in the Hamburg area and I was offered a place to stay.
You guessed it . My room was the Lili - Barbie room. I was surrounded by over 1000 dolls, clothes , and operating table for repair.

While in France I met Regina and Michel at a Corvette of Club of France ralley. They live near Paris and invited me over.
Rigina is from Texas and Michele is a retired French business man.
He loves to hunt big game and has been all over the world. He is a true hunter, that goes into the bush, camps out and is out in front on the hunt.

Sunday-monday Middle-Finland program:
When leaving Tampere we drive through curvy roads to Jämsä. (Kuhmalahti-Västilä-Längelmäki)
In Jämsä we are about 2-4 PM at afternoon, depends time when leave from Tampere.
When arriving to Jämsä i have done reservation at Ravintola Patapirtti (http://www.patapirtti.fi/en/restaurant/)
Then to Himos and there is cottage (http://www.himosholiday.com/en/near-the-hotel/koivula-52-20.html) rented.
7-10 PM we have smokesauna (http://www.himosholiday.com/en/activities/sauna-facilities-3.html) and lake Patalahti is really close.
All Corvette enthusiast are wellcome!

Tampereelta mutkateitä Jämsään, saavutaan n. klo 14-16 välillä, riippuen mihin aikaan Tampereelta lähdetään.
Jämsässä ruokalu varattu Ravintola Patapirtistä, ihan Himoksen vierestä.
Ruokailun jälkeen on Himoksesta varattu mökki ja savusauna klo 19-22.
Tervetuloa istumaan iltaa ja saunomaan, myös majoituspaikkoja muutamia mökissä tarjolla.

Jack is now at poppa ranch with a rather nice group of local vette guys and gals. After that he's heading to FTT racing garage and from there he's of to Bulldog's Hot Rod Heaven and from there he will start his drive to Tampere. This gentleman is super nice guy, so you guys up there don't want to miss this opportunity to meet a living legend.
IMO Jack's both trips are equal to Moon landings, only better, since his trips really happened :mrgreen:

Sunday morning plans are still open, but about 9-10AM we start from Kangasala (Kurkis).
Maybe first garages at Pirkkala, lunch at Näsinneula and then to Mobilia to Kangasala, then curvy roads to Jämsä.

In case you lot visit Mobilia car museum there's another one ie. Vehoniemen automuseo (Vehoniemi car museum) nearby just 6 kilometres away.
At Vehoniemi, if I'm not mistaken, they still have the only remaining Mercedes-Benz 300 SEL 6.3 Waxenberger race car in the world. And the entry is free. ;)

Whose garages do you plan to visit in Tampere?
I drove today with Jack from Hattula to Kangasala, Mika's home.
Jack's opinion was that top is not needed at +5 C, so I drop it too...
He also hoped good cruising speed;some moment's we well rised 100 (according his speedometer...).
He's a MAN with Corvette!

In case you lot visit Mobilia car museum there's another one ie. Vehoniemen automuseo (Vehoniemi car museum) nearby just 6 kilometres away.
At Vehoniemi, if I'm not mistaken, they still have the only remaining Mercedes-Benz 300 SEL 6.3 Waxenberger race car in the world. And the entry is free. ;)

We had a properly greasy and fatty breakfast at my place to get some energy for Jack so that he will survive the freezing weather he's got ahead up north. We'll head up to the DTC garage to get the car up and make a visual check underneath just to make sure everything's all right.

I am in Jyvaskyla, Finland , central Finland lakes area. Here are some photos. More later. Grooyjay, (Jani and Mika , Tapio , Riku ) have paved the way for me. I have had 3 Sauna in 2 days. The last one a "Smoke Sauna" very traditional with the suana heated by wood and filled with smoke . Smoke is cleared and in you go. To say that I am getting relaxed would be an understatement.

Yes I have little plan where and how we should take some pictures.
We'll head up to the DTC garage to get the car up and make a visual check underneath just to make sure everything's all right.
Actually we didn't have time to lift the car, cause those trip updates took quite a bit of time and he had to hit the road, but fortunately we had just enough time to stop by the garage and I got to engage in the famous tradition called "washing Jack's car" :D

Weather report from Northern Finland:
It rained sleet between Oulu and Kemi at about 15.00 o'clock. Road surfaces are borderline slippery even with FWD car so easy does it.
Just making U-turn back home. Too slippery. Shit!

Jack, make sure Kari and the boys up north keep you up to date on the latest forecast, it looks like it's going to snow tomorrow, so you might be in for a real treat! If the weather turns a lot worse we can start thinktanking about alternative ways to (trailer) get you and your car south safely. But I'm sure you'll be fine... (as they all say ;))

One more 320 mile drive today from Stockholm , Sweden to Oslo , Norway.
I have just passed 7,248 miles driven on this trip. I am meeting with a reporter from American Car Club of Norway tomorrow and there is a large car show in Oslo this weekend and I will attend it.
The car comes home on a boat on Nov 1, and should be in NY in December. I fly home on Sunday and look forward to being home with my family,
Once home I will have time to start posting some great photos and videos
Thanks to all for their support. Corvettes are alive and well in Europe. I will do a recap of the trip tomorrow highlighting my stops.

The weather in Scandinavia held for me. I had a little rain in Southern Finland, and there was frost on the car windows in the morning. Not much different then late fall in Maine about 30' in morning and 40-50 or so later

Good morning, Bonjour , and 8 other greetings from Europe.
Woke up this morning to a little snow . It will melt by mid-morning. I will drive to Oslo later and perhaps to Drammen , to get car transport details done. The return cost is going to be about $1,400 with fees.
The car will go Roll on Roll off. Had I sent it home in a container is could be close to $6,000. The money I save will be needed to buy a hot dog and soda in Norway.
I am looking forward to the Oslo Motor Show this weekend, I will have a chance to meet some of the Corvette people from my visit last month.

Be sure you have a good insurance covering during that time the car is in hands of shipping company. Sometimes they don't handle customers cars in proper way and don't leave anything worth stealing in the car.... Though maybe I'm too paranoiac with this...

I have a non stop to Newark, but the weather on East coast is not to be good. My wife said a big storm is coming up coast and I may be in Newark longer then I may want.

No worries. It would have been very rude to let you leave Jyväskylä with such a filthy car after all those country roads, so even though it's a dirty job, someone's got to do it ;)
It was really nice to meet you and we all hope to meet you again. Maybe that time we'll have time to dig a little deeper into Finnish history concerning those damn ruskies... At least we got to the part to trash Russians, which is always a important indication of a great evening :grin:

I would like to say Thank you to Tapani Haavikko a.k.a. JCC94. He made a special trip of over 300 miles at night to deliver boots to me for my wife.
It was just another example of the kindness and warmth that I had felt from the moment I drove on to Finn land.
May good fortune and fast cars be in your future. I hope to return someday.

Well the trip is starting to wind down and I fly home tomorrow. I dropped the car off at the docks and hopefully it will be in NJ around the 21st of November.
This weekend is the Annual Oslo Car Show. American Cars are very desirable in Scandinavia and if you get an email or phone call from Europe about your car that may be for sale, take it seriously. Thousands of American cars are being bought by Europeans and they want to drive them as well as collect them. Enjoy the pictures.

Hello to all, I have been busy catching up on weatherization of my house and rest. I expected my car to be shipped on Nov. 1, but because of the storm and NJ port problems, it will be shipped on Nov. 8th, and should arrive around the 29th of November.
I would like to thank Heidi, of Motorships.no , for her help in taking care of my car in Norway for the shipment home. Because of the delay, Heidi, had my car put under cover until shipment. Thank you Heidi !

I am off to NYC tomorrow to spend a few days with my wife Patrica and son Adam. We have friends to visit and we try to make the Thanksgiving day parade every few years. I use to put my son on my back to see over the crowd, now at at 6'6" , he stands above most, plus I can't lift him anymore.

The car is on a dock in New Jersey. It waits in line to be inspected by Customs. Car arrived on Dec 6th. I had gone to NYC expecting to pick up car on 14th. Did not happen. Back in Maine and will wait until I get call from agent that car is released.
It is on a dock with hundreds of others , each one gets inspected, so who knows when they with get to my car. I hope it is not filled with water by the time I get to it.
I hoped to drive it home, the weather was great. Now we have snow on the ground in Maine.
Should be fun driving home one of these days. Good that I had some practice on snow in Finland. The car left home on June 8. It has been away from home for almost 6 months.

I just got the customs release late this afternoon. I will fly from Portland to JFK, 6 AM Thursday, get a ride to New Jersey docks, pick up car and head back home by 2 pm on Thursday and be back in Maine around 8 pm.
To bad the release came this weekend and not last when it was sunny and warm.
I will be glad to get the car home. One more ride to end the year. 331 miles, plus 8,500 on the continent for a total of 8,800 plus miles covered in car from start of trip in Maine to end of trip in Maine.

Final Update of Europe Trip. Thursday, 20th, I flew to NYC at 6 AM , Bus to NYC, Bus to Newark NJ, Cab to Port America, jump start car, and start to look for a gas station.
Car ran rough with old gas (couple of gals left in tank) . Once filled with new gas, engine ran like a charm. Averaged 15 mpg on ride home of 331 miles.
A big storm was heading up the coast and I wanted to get home before it hit. Left at 11:30 am and was home by 7:30 pm with stops for food and a car wash.
Thanks to all for the interest in my trip. I will start to work on the book and posting this coming year.

Tonight, late at night while most of you are asleep, I will post additional pictures to the www.corvettevagabond.com website. Finally I will be able to add Finland. If you have additional video of events that I attended , and have something would be of interest for my TV project . Let me know.
All my video is off to Detroit, and I hope we all look good ! Send my a PM if you think you have something. I also may be contacting you for information on some of the garages I visited. The rush to stay ahead of the weather did not give me enough time to record all the names.

Great, and Utube is a good way for me to get them. Hope the winter is short and the days are starting to get longer, summer is almost here, I better start working in small car maintence, but I just can't seem to take the car off the road. snow or no snow.

It is real cold today in Maine. I thought it would be fun to re-post many of the photos from my 48 state trip, as I work on the book / TV project.
Looking at them, brings back many great memories, some good, some bad, but all exciting ! I will post several daily for the next few weeks, as I am recovering from minor foot surgery.

Nice ones. Had to see the meter go down 29 below zero so welcome here at the summer the better. Then it can be the same but + and my Airconditioning isn't working so got to get the roof off... Nearly all are at sleep in the garages atm (so not a lot of mileage).

Courtesy of someone. I talk about too long distances to drive with racing equipment and no space for stuff for a few days. This holly jobber is made for the circuit, not for the bumby roads ever again. The steering is a pain in an older one. Next Summer, Better Steering with a few improvements?

Edit: Meaning that it is not comfortable to drive with a C4, 1000 kilometres with Your wrists white as a little bump can get You in a speed of 60Mph offroad.. The heat was also too much after work with a glass roof. That's why I was so, well good to come back home;)

I would like to re post part of a reply to me on my http://www.corvettevagabond.com/ website from a Europepan C2 owner , on the European Corvette forum. He is now in Fla. at the NCRS event and Mecums , taking in American car culture.

I wrote back to him explaining some of my opinions based on my experiences. He wrote back. Speaking about the difference , using my trip as an example.
(he is speaking about Europe , it could be any of the countries I visited)
"And, in my opinion, it was that courage "state of mind" makes the USA so special that time. (50's-70's) In my childhood people had more fear and it was a bit boring.
"Before a big project (like your EU-trip)"
" Many Europeans would asking, what all could go wrong if they do this."
"The US people asking, what all they would miss," " if they don't do it."
Makes me think about America and gives me some insight on how countries/people people view us.

The experience was very similar to my 48 State Trip, but different .
It was the difference, that made it so interesting, challenging, stressful and at times, absolutely beyond imagination
The welcome by (Europeans Corvette Owners) and the desire to be part of a journey of this crazy American, (my trip, life style of travel ) that most only fantasize about, was the same as the many US hosts on my 48 state jouney.
Corvette owners, like yourself, who helped me, and doing so, became part of the trip and rode along with "The Corvette Vagabond" on a historic trip.
I am working very hard on the TV and book project. We shall see.
We all will "traveled down the less traveled road" together

I would like to share photos of the Man Caves that I had the pleasure of seeing or using.

We survived the blizzard here on Cape Cod. 80 mph winds and 17 inches of heavy wet snow. Lots of trees down. We were without power for almost 3 days. Finally back on and cleaning up. The generator and John Deere along with the chain saw are helping. Lots of coastal damage.
How did you fare up there Jack?
We survived, and now it is fun time.

I would rather by ice racing , but you have to take what you have ! Got my practice in Finland.
The sun was out and I thought it would be a good day for a ride in New England. I think there was a little too much sun, well that is what a fire hose is for, to clean your car after a nice February 15 ride in Maine.

Just noticed this nice story and really valued the fact that you have still you Corvette you bought at 1966.

My 67 Eldorado is in milloin pieces, but hopefully all is back together last week of May when is should take the car from Helsinki to Gotherburg/Sweden to put it to RORO ship towards US and Lincoln Highway tour. My Corvette will watch after the house when I am on the road 5 weeks in US next summer.

Many of you have followed my travels in the US and Europe over the last 3 years. Last spring I had to replace the windshield that was hit by a stone near Park City UT.
It was the 3rd windshield since car was new. I replaced original in 1976, could not see through (150,000 miles) on car, it lasted until 2012, about 150,000 miles.
In my rush to get the car ready for the European trip, we put the windshield in and followed right away with the trim. In hindsight, not a good idea. Lots of sealer and glue and junk, you are in a hurry and the job did not come out looking good. No leaks , but I was ruff with taking it off, put some bends in it, did not get the front piece centered, etc.
Well I got inspired by 65Rush (Jim) replacement and polish job on his trim.
I called over a friend and in less then an hour we had it off. The biggest mistake I made , and maybe others that have problems putting trim on , is too much sealer when installing windshield. Over concern with sealing everything. (too much around clips) etc.
Taking off trim is not hard, just have to do it in the right order. Take out every screw first that hold trim, latches, mirror etc. Trim screws, do not have to take off trim in front of pad.
Take off inside piece first (mirror) part, next top piece after gently pulling side pieces away from cage. (4 5/16 speed nuts 2 reg nuts hold trim) You must take of side pillar rubber first and mounting plate for trim.
You can then side out side pieces from front trim, next release the front trim with tool
I will post tomorrow a few pictures of the tool in action. Most have problems because they do not understand how the tool works to release trim.
Installation , have to wait until trim is done but....before putting trim on. I will talk about a order of installation later.
It is important to make sure the clips are free of sealer so they can grab the trim around the front windshield. Also , I found the grove of the front trim to be clogged with gunk, gunk in the grove, keep the clip from locking in place.
I am debating doing the polish myself, but don't feel good about it.
I hope this helps some of the new members who may be thinking of doing this job

Hi, well as usual , I can not keep from driving my car, weather , repairs, it does not matter, if it runs, the roads are OK I am off.
Well you know I took my trim off to fix dents and polish....
The sun did come out....I did jump in the car.....I did drive fast..
Question I should have asked. Does the trim hold the glass in or does the rubber gasket ? Not a good time at 85 mph !

Hello to all, well Spring has come to Maine. Thought I would bring in the the season with a ride. Predictions of over a foot of snow. Just when you thought it would be safe to go outside.
Translator program said no to Finnish , so here is French. I am going to Le Mains , I think.

I had the pleasure of visiting Steve Newsom in the Houston area.

I though you might like this post from my US forums. I had asked for the kind of adhesive that you use to re attach the support to the hood skin. I had said it was a long story and I would explain later.

Once upon a time, there was this man, he had a car that he liked to drive. I mean, he drove it all the time, rain, snow, sun, night, there was not a road that this man did not like....
Side note
No new corvette owner would ever lose his hood. It was designed to stay on even if the latches popped open. It hinges in the front and opens from the rear, wind would just push it down...
Only a 44 year experienced corvette driver can lose his hood and not because the hinges broke.
You see...it was like this. 3 years ago I was getting the car ready for the 48 state trip. The motor was back in, I had been driving the car without hood, bumpers, windows, trim for a while to break it in. The car was due at the painter the next day and...
I want to see what the car looked like with all the chrome , bumpers etc put back on. It was battleship gray, but I had the time , I put on all the stuff.
Now we come to the hood. I just put the hood in place, no bolts in hinges, pushed the hood down so that it latched.
I was just going to look at it...honest...here is a picture

But, you know what happens. I started the car...I was only going to move it back to the garage, all of a sudden, I am going up my driveway, on to the road.
My heart is beating faster, should I do it ? I tell myself, I will only go 15 mph , only 15 no more...
I start down the road, keep it at 15, no problems, I am in heaven,
(I discovered the real reason for the hood coming off this week)
back to the story....so , I am driving along in first gear, I give it some gas and to my amazement the hood come flying over the windshield. By some unbelievable movement of my arm, I knock the hood up and off to the side....meanwhile, I am driving the damm car , trying to stay straight, and slowly I pull off to side of the road,
I could not imagine what I was going to find when I started walking back to where I thought the hood landed. And there is was, on its back on the grass, without a scratch or crack . However, the adhesive that holds the tabs on the support member to the skin had broken lose.
That is when the police officer came up to me...but that is another story.
I just got around to fixing it. ( The reason the hood came off, it was blow off by the radiator fan, not my driving speed. I stepped on gas in first, lots of air from fan, pushed directly up on hood that had no bolts holding it to hinges. )
Thank you JohnZ for the information on adhesive product. I picked up a Loctite brand as show in pictures.
All the tabs had broken lose from the skin during the flip and landing. You can see the thickness of the "gumdrop" original adhesive. I used a chisel to knock most of the stuff out in one piece as shown.
I will let it cure for 3 to 5 days since it is still cold in my garage. Give it a paint job and put back on car. A mess, just like from the factory !

The trip to Le Mans is shaping up. A little background; Ruud Zeller, a member of the Dutch NCRS Chapter, had generously offered me a ride to the races in his beautiful '63 roadster. Due to timing, I was not able to accept, and of course, another lucky person will be riding with Ruud.
In the meantime, the Corvette Club of France extended me an invitation to the race, including a prime parking spot.
In the spirit of Corvette fellowship, Andre Boer of the Netherlands and owner of the famous "Dutch Collection" has helped sponsored my return to Europe and to drive one of his cars, a C-5 from the Netherlands to Le Mans. (home cooked meal included)
This gesture exemplifies the passion for Corvettes in Europe and the USA. Cooperation like this will keep the 60 year Corvette legacy going well into the future.

I would like to share some photos of the Corvette Club of Norway Magazine. Great photos of activities in Norway and a little article on my trip to Norway last fall. Thanks to all the Vikings for their wonderful hospitality and a lots of 700 hp blown cars.
Many are coming to America July 1, 2013. Over 100 vintage American cars are being shipped to NYC USA for a Lincoln Highway Tour, from Times Square NYC to SF, California on the Lincoln Highway 100 year old celebration.
I hope to be back from Le Mans on June 26, and drive from Maine to NYC to lead them out the Lincoln Tunnel to New Jersey. On their own in NJ.
