My first stop was to visit the fabled Finns, who showed up this year with their supertuned Corvette customs supported by mechanics' truck, trailers, and motorhomes loaded with spares and tools, more like a race team than amateur roadtrippers. What they do, they do very well ---I'd barely said "hello" before a beer was pressed into my hand. The spokesman of the group, retired pilot Veli Pekka Aanki, told me their story in fluent English. "We've got 350 members, with 16 cars here this weekend. Most of us are first timers." Apparently, Finns never go small. From Le Mans they were "...going to Hockenheim and the Nurburgring, to see how fast our cars will go. It'll be great " Then he offered me another beer.

Steve tehnyt näköjään hyvää tekstiä toiseenkin lehteen! Se aiemmin laittamani Classic Americanin skannaus oli myös saman herran tekemä juttu! Positiivista julkisuutta suomalaisista harrastajista, HIENOA työtä LeMansissa olleet! Jatkakaa samaa rataa ja yritetään me muut pysyä perässä nilkuttaen!

Tota.... huhhuh.
Noi faktat ei ehkä pilkuntarkasti pidä paikkaansa, mutta onhan se hyvä kun edes jotain huomiota herätetään maassa, jossa enemmistö ei edes tiedä missä Suomi sijaitsee.

Mulle tuli leimalla "AIR MAIL, PAR AVION", lähetyksen hinta on näköjään 8,80 taalaa.

Hieno mainosta, mutta totuuden nimessä kyllä matkalaisilla oli pienen race-teamin tarpeet mukana turha sitä on yhtään häpeillä tai olla vaatimaton.

Next it was on to the Danes, where former club president Claus Christiansen told me their eight Corvettes had to traveled by ferry from Denmark to Germany and then driven 1000 miles to Le Mans. Lars Brodersen was busy replacing two bent pushrods in his 460-horse hotrod C3. A friend had just flown in from Denmark to bring him the parts.

No oli se tullu mullekin tänään, pitänee lahjoa joskus Molleria
